11/11

Nothing of note to say this week in the blog. I've managed to put together my presentation for tomorrow's class. Other than that it's just been a normal week. I watched my Wolverines beat Minnesota and then saw Clemson lose to Florida State, so I had some mixed emotions there. On Sunday night I stayed at my parents house so that I could watch the pets. They went up to Duke for an interview at the hospital. My dad is trying to make one more big leap before he gets to the point that relocating for a job doesn't make any sense.

Election

So, Barrack Obama won the election. I really can't explain how that makes me feel right now. I do think that over the next few years the country will be given a wake up call on the importance of a strong national government. I just don't think Obama will know how to respond to it. Hopefully his cabinet will be able to assist him with this, but who knows who he'll put on it.

Nothing else really matters right now, I just hope that we make it through the next four years.

Just another week

I really don't have too much to say in here for this week. Since I've started a new job all I tend to do is go from work to home to sleep, wake back up and go to work. Last Thursday I attempted to hang out with friends after work, but by 10pm I knew that it was time to hit the sack.

The only thing of note that I did all week was an event I went to on Saturday afternoon. I went to a beer tasting festival at a pizza place in Mount Pleasant. I went with some friends, and each of us invited our dad's as well, to earn those important parental points. There were 40 beers in total at the festival that we could taste, but I think I only made it through 15 or so. Mind you, these were only half beers or so. After that, I went to sleep early once again, and just did 4 loads of laundry all day on Sunday.

This whole grown up job thing I've got going really takes the fun out of life, but I wouldn't change a thing.

9/30

So I recently realized that I forgot to write a blog entry last week. I was so busy last week that it didn't even come to mind that I was supposed to be doing it. Instead on Tuesday I started the first day of my new job at Med Shipping. I was worried about waking up at 7am every day, but it hasn't really been too much of a problem. Two cups of coffee in the morning and another in the mid afternoon seems to be all I need to stay active at work.

The job itself is just what I was looking for. I mainly just do input type things for the Export Documentation department. In the next week I'll be communicating with customers more often via email and the phone. From what I understand that is the most aggravating part of the job because our customers tend to be very annoying.

I've been really focusing on the job recently, so there hasn't been anything else going on. Maybe I'll try and get a life outside of work this upcoming weekend.

Here's the site of my new workplace. http://www.mscgva.ch/

Interviews and Pyramids

I guess I'll follow up on what happened last week in regards to the interview that I had scheduled. The night before the interview I did some research on the company and discovered that things were not as they appeared. The website was very circular for the position and really did not talk about anything else other than this particular job. The job description was very vague and at the very end in small type it said that I would get paid based on what I did. These things as well as a few others told me that it had the makings of a pyramid scheme. I ended up canceling the interview and decided to wait out the other position that I was looking into.
That turned out to be a very good plan. I now have a interview scheduled with Mediterranean Shipping Company for Wednesday afternoon. I should be able to get a job there and I'll be able to secure benefits now that I'm not a dependent of my parents.

Other than job stuff this week has been kind of boring. It was so bad that on Friday night I set my alarm so that I could wake up at 4am Saturday and drive up to the Clemson game. However, shortly before falling asleep I realized how stupid that would be. Instead, I just sat around with my roommate and a few friends and watched Clemson win, Michigan lose, and later Ohio State get blown out. I basically did the same thing with the NFL games the next day. Like I said it's been a very exciting week.

Weekend in Clemson

This was a big weekend for me because it was my first time back in Clemson since I graduated. It was also the first time I got to watch a game and a part of both of the teams playing, since the Tigers played the Citadel. I was able to spend time with a lot of friends that I won't see as much of anymore, but I also got to spend some quality time with my sister. She recently moved to Greenville and is going to start attending as many games as she can fit into her schedule. I definitely had fun going to the game, but it made me once again realize that I need to find myself a job. I've decided to put in a few more applications and it seems that it may pay off. I've already got an interview scheduled for Wednesday morning, I just hope it's something I'll have enjoy doing.

Hopefully when I write again next week I'll be able to say who is going to be writing my paychecks for the next little while.
